We are a charitable organization dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals and families facing difficult circumstances. Our programs focus on providing support and resources to those affected by mental health and bullying. By working together with our community partners, we aim to create a brighter future for those in need.
Join our team of dedicated volunteers and make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Whether it's serving meals at a homeless shelter or mentoring a child in need, there are many ways to get involved and give back.
Emily Michaela Murillo was born 8/3/03 at 3:08pm weighing 8lbs 3ozs. We knew she was going to be special! She grew up in Kendall Park, New Jersey with her mom and sister Kaylee who lovingly called her ‘Emmy’.
Emmy was different from a young age. She had trouble connecting with her peers. By 6 years old she was diagnosed with ADHD and mood disorder. At 7-8 years old she was diagnosed with Dyslexia. By 9 years old, she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Life was not easy for her, especially in school. Kids were not nice to her because she was different.
As Emmy got older, she went through a lot of mental health challenges as she had difficulties regulating her moods and had to take different medications. Sometimes they would make her dysregulation worse and she would need to be hospitalized. Emmy was a fighter, she learned the coping skills she needed to get through those rough times and always felt she was stronger for it.
With all of Emily’s struggles, she still had the brightest smile and a wave to all she encountered. She had the biggest heart. She was fierce about fairness and would always stand up for someone who she thought was not being treated nicely. I believe this was so important to her because she had been bullied throughout her entire school career. She knew what it was like to be in that persons shoes and she didn’t want others to feel that way.
Emily loved animals or ‘aminals’ as she referred to them. She loved nature and being outside. She loved her daily walks around her Kendall Park neighborhood where I am sure there are many neighborhood pets wondering where Emmy has been.
Unfortunately, Emmy is no longer with us. It all became too much for her and she took her own life on 1/29/21. Tragically, the bullying continued even on the day of her funeral when unknown individuals signed into her Zoomed funeral service and continued to torment her on her final day, ruining the virtual service for those who were not able to attend in person due to Covid-19 and travel restrictions.
We desperately miss our Emmy every single second of every single day. It is our hope, that we can help make the world a kinder place by paying it forward, making someone’s day a little brighter. It could make a difference to those who feel alone.
Won’t you help be a champion to the Emmy’s of the world? Please join our Pay it Forward Campaign and be a CHAMPION in someone’s life! It could make a difference for that one person.
Founded in 2021, our mission is to promote kindness, mental health and suicide prevention awareness. Help us break the stigma!
We offer a variety of programs and services including our Annual Kindness Fair, South Brunswick High School Emily Murillo Mental Health Scholarship, along with speaking engagements in schools, churches and communities on the impact of kindness, mental health, bullying awareness and the impact of Social Media on children.
